Ai edit

Pokhara, June 16 Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ emphasized the need to transform the thinking and working styles of governments at all three levels in order to bolster the federal democratic system in Nepal.

Chairing the inaugural session of the National Coordination Council in Pokhara on Saturday, the Prime Minister underscored the essence of federalism and its long-term significance. He expressed that the true potential of federalism could be realized by providing efficient and expeditious service to the people.

While acknowledging the existence of laws to support federalism, the Prime Minister pointed out that further refinement was required. He cautioned against certain factions attempting to undermine the Federal Republic, both internally and externally. Regressive forces and external pressures, he asserted, were working to weaken the system.

Attending the meeting were Finance Minister Dr. Prakasharan Mahat, Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration Amanlal Modi, Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung, Former Minister of Opposition Bishnu Paudel, Chief Ministers of Provinces, Vice Chairman of National Planning Commission Dr. Meen Bahadur Shrestha, National Security Adviser Shankardas Bairagi, Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal Dr. Baikunth Aryal, Secretaries of Nepal Government, representatives from the District Coordinating Committee Federation, Municipal Federation, and Heads of Rural Municipality Federation, among others.

The meeting deliberated on various proposals aimed at effectively implementing federalism and subsequently made the requisite decisions.
