Mustang, 14 Oct

In a devastating incident, three foreign tourists lost their lives in Mustang over the past week. The victims have been identified as 35-year-old Ukrainian citizen Anna Panina, 66-year-old Indian citizen Satyanarayan, and 65-year-old Revathi.

Anna Panina, a Ukrainian national, met with a tragic accident near a lake while walking from Kagbeni to Muktinath on October 6. She began experiencing breathing difficulties upon reaching Waragung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality-2 Jhong in Mustang. Anna was promptly rushed to the district hospital in Jomsom, where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, she succumbed to her condition.

Similarly, Satyanarayan, an Indian tourist visiting Muktinath, suffered respiratory problems on October 8, which unfortunately proved fatal during treatment.

Another victim, Revathi, hailing from Tamil Nadu in India, passed away due to respiratory complications. On October 10, she developed breathing difficulties after exposure to high-altitude conditions near the entrance of Mustang. Tragically, tourists who swiftly ascend to the high Himalayas from the highway often find themselves vulnerable to such health challenges.

Local authorities are urging tourists to exercise caution and acclimatize properly to the high-altitude environment, emphasizing the importance of health and safety while exploring the picturesque but perilous terrain of Mustang. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
