Pokhara, July 5 – In an effort to promote safety, orderliness, and reliability during paragliding flights, air traffic management training has been provided to paragliding pilots and professionals in Pokhara. The training, supported by the Nepal Air Sports Organization (NAS) and the Civil Aviation Authority, aimed to utilize advanced methods and technology to enhance paragliding safety and enable effective monitoring.
During the two-day training session, participants received comprehensive instruction on air traffic management practices, as well as training on the proper use of air safety equipment, according to Sunil Bahadur Bhattarai, Chairman of the checkpoint. Emphasizing the importance of safe paragliding flights, Bhattarai stated that the NAS provided guidance on taking off and landing from designated areas, along with the necessary equipment. Moreover, he mentioned that flights were required to adhere to specific flight paths, ensuring monitoring by the technical team from the Naco.
The training was conducted by notable individuals such as Devendra Prasad Shrestha, Head of the ATM Department of the Authority, Mukesh Dahal, Senior Aviation Captain Vinod Puri, and others. Approximately 250 pilots and 60 business professionals actively participated in the training program. Sitaram Bhandari, Head of the ATM Department of the Civil Aviation Authority, expressed confidence that the training would contribute to improved services in the field. The coordination of the training was overseen by Anil KC, Vice President of the checkpoint, while the program was managed by Khemraj Acharya, General Secretary.
The provision of air traffic management training underscores the commitment of the Nepal Air Sports Organization and the Civil Aviation Authority to promote safe and responsible paragliding practices in Pokhara.
