Tamang wins trophy
Kathmandu, 17th September: Shyam Tamang won the ninth edition of Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here on Saturday. Tamang playing with 20 handicap scored seven-under 65 to win the trophy. Chewang Sherpa finished second with the score of four-under 68 and Babu Sherpa finished third on the count back after being tied with Ram Chandra Limbu at three-under 69.
Tashi Dong scored two-over 74 to win the best gross title and Aaiesteena Tandan won the ladies category with the score of even-par 72. Total of 42 golfers took part in a tournament played under stroke-play format with full handicap. Dr. Bhagwan Koirala gave away the prize to the winners of the tournament sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
After the ninth edition, Babu Sherpa remains at the top of the leaderboard of the club championship nett section with 280 points, Ranadeep Thapa also remains second with 215 points. Shyam Tamang moved up to the third place with 200 points. Karna Thapa slips to fourth place with 195 points. Purna Bahadur Rai is at fifth with 140 points, Samir Acharya is sixth with 130 points, Pavitra Kumar Karki is seventh with 125 points. Pradip KC is eighth with 120 points, Ang Dorjee Sherpa is ninth with 115 and Chewang Sherpa is 10th with 95 points.
On the gross section Tashi Tshiring remain at the top with 365 points, Wangchen Dhondup is second at 355. Vijay Shrestha Einhaus is third with 320 points. Tashi Dong is fourth with 255 points and Surendra Phuyal is fifth with 230 points.
